Katherine (Katie) Pinkham was raised in Waco, Texas. She received her Bachelor's degree in Visual Art Studies at The University of North Texas in 2016, and began working in public schools as an art teacher. She now resides in Lewisville, Texas and is seeking her Masters in Fine Art at Texas Woman’s University.
Artist’s Statement:My work highlights the experiential nature of curiosity, and its place within my life. I like to discover the history and function of unusual objects and antiquities, and try to reframe their stigma in society. My work invites the viewer to examine morbid subjects that have been domesticated, or made palatable and comforting. The juxtaposition of death and the decorative are a reflection of my own curiosities and my desire to “normalize” them.
